Thanks, Steve! I'm planning to add a lot more, but I think it's coming together pretty well so far.

Stylish and professional.

I like that the main page has the cover, description, and excerpt.

I didn’t see a release date. That might look good under the cover.

I think the description is a better hook than the blurb. You might want to lead with that.

And you might want to put the BLOG link right under the BOOKS link, to get more hits.

Overall, it looks better than most bestselling author websites.

Jude—

Your writing style, as I read it from the PDF, is very similar in tone and use of colloquialisms to best selling author Dennis Lehane (Mystique River, Shutter Island). Ever read any of his crime novels-“Darkness, Take My Hand”, for instance. He’s a huge success, as I am sure you will be also. A Boston native, Dennis chairs the January course in his second home of St Pete, FL; Google “Writers in Paradise” and it comes up—Jan 15, and this year with Pulitzer Prize winning author Richard Russo (That Old Cape Magic, Empire Falls, etc). I’m considering going, but work may interfere. You could drive (albeit a long drive).

Your website is superb. Dark background adds solidity, substance. Easy to navigate. You must, however, get a link on the Book page (and every page, if you can) directly to the seller (Amazon, I presume) of your book. If someone was on the website—unless I missed it, but even when I click the book cover it does not take me anywhere—they would need to click and go directly to the place to buy your book. If its not right there, then “boom”, they (and their checkbooks) move away.

Great comments on Joe Konrath’s website, which is how I found you. Man, Joe is a zealot for the e-pubbing, but his posts have become so one-sided and repetitive, I’m giving up on hi Newbie’s blog. My brain is fried—“Okay, Joe, you’re RIGHT! Now can you pleeeease teach us something else about writing.” His Newbie’s Guide, i.e. old posts, is great because it is full of varied information on many subjects.

C ya, Jude. CK1

Newbie's Guide ebook on Amazon is what I mean about old posts. It's great. His blog, well, let;s just say it has entered the "Department of Redundancy Dept."

Check out Dennis's writing with free esamples on Amazon, and Writers in Paradise (which has scholarships to defray $700 cost, you could submit for that).

Thanks so much for the kind words, Cool!

My book doesn't come out until May 2011, so that's why the links don't go anywhere yet.

I've read Mystic River and Shutter Island by Lehane, and I think he's definitely one of our best. I'll check out Writers in Paradise. Thanks! Also, he will be at Sleuthfest this year, so that would be worth checking into as well.
