The End

Are there any two words in the English language that are sweeter for a novelist to write?

We love what we do, but actually finishing something evokes an emotion like no other. Something akin to bliss.

About an hour ago, I finished the first draft of my work in progress. After six months of hard work, it’s finally done.

I say “first draft,” but much of the manuscript has been worked twice or more. It’s pretty clean, I think, and ready to share.

I want to thank everyone who has been supportive along the way, especially my sweet angel who gave me strength when I had essentially given up on this novel.

Now I’m going to have a drink and click print.

Wow, HUGE congratulations! That is absolutely awesome!!!

I'm always giddy but also relieved. For some reason, there's always this little fear that I have to beat back, a little fear that wonders if I'll be able to get to the end.

Six months of work ... that is something! Congratulations, and good luck!

Cheers, Jude! Enjoy that drink. I know you've earned it.

Not just 'The End' but the very beginning of the next leg in this journey.

May this be the first of the many 'Ends' you meet. And may none of 'em be dead ends :)

Can't wait to put Colt on my keeper shelf!

Thanks, Lainey!!!

You're absolutely right. Every end is a new beginning.

And I'll be honored to have a spot on that keeper shelf. :)

Jude! You're back! Missed you, man.

Congratulations on finishing. I know that feeling - it's a wrenching emotional experience. I feel like laughing and crying at the same time when I type those two little words.

What are you plans for it now? Have you begun querying? Can't wait to see it out there in print. ;o) Tell us about it - or print an excerpt here. Let me know if there's any way I can help.

Hi Kathy:

I'm still in the editing/rewrite mode at this point. I'm planning to blog, in the near future, about the right time to let your baby fly.

Thanks!
