Well. The first thought was: Wow!

The second thought was: Damn, George nailed it.

The third thought was: Ooooooohhhhhhh!

The last thought was: Damn, great cover.

You want a cover that is arresting.

Boy oh boy, is this arresting.

The designer earned his pay on this one.

Thanks, Steve! It took me by surprise when I first saw it, because it wasn't like any of the ideas we pitched on the conference call. But it was a pleasant surprise!

Might have them add A Nicholas Colt Mystery (or Novel) somewhere if you plan on making it a series.

Thanks, Jon! Mark and Erica both mentioned calling it A Nicholas Colt Novel, so I'm still considering suggesting that change. But I'm extremely pleased with it!

Very nice cover! Speaking as an artist, I can honestly tell you that we do our best work when you just give us a few adjectives and turn us loose. :)

I like the title font, the author font, the smoke and the gun.

I don't like the orange explosion painted over the gun. It screams "direct-to-dvd."

But maybe I'm alone on this.

My final score:

80% Classy. 20% Generic.

If I saw it on a bookshelf, I wouldn't pick it up.

Thanks for your honest assessment, Jack.

I like the explosion. I think it gives the cover a certain "pulp" feel, which is appropriate for the novel.

Not bad, I take it this isn't a gardening book? Real great cover, it would make me pick it up.
